| I've done both manual and PJ exercises. Let me tell you, in my not so expert/professional opinion, there is simply nothing more effective than the PJ. What I found is that with the PJ there is a certain area of my pecker that I must collapse/squeeze to get the full affect. When I identified that area, let me tell you, there is nothing that comes close with my hands. I think I could literally pop the head off my dick when doing squeezes with the PJ.
Take the PJ and squeeze at the base. Vary your erection no less than say 70% and never with a full erection. Experiment with squeezes. When you get it right, the head will balloon. Hold it. You should see small bumps. Wait. Keeping the PJ tight, gently pull forward ever so slightly. You should notice the bumps disappear and the head becomes shinny. Feel of the sides of your shaft. Especially around the mid-shaft upward toward the head, on the sides it should feel like a rib cage. When you get these results, you have found the area and erection level you need to get the maxium workout with the PJ. In my opinion and experience these are signs that are very, very difficult (sometimes impossible) to achieve with just your hands. Too, your hands wear out quick when applying maximum pressure such as I just described.
Also, when you are jelqing properly with the PJ, you should be getting/seeing the same signs described above.
