Yes the amount of bodyfat that you have will affect your penis size depending on how you measure. If you measure non bone-pressed then fat will most definitely affect size, measuring bone-pressed however allows you to measure actual length regardless of how much fat you have. Bodyfat will also make your penis look smaller...

Here's how to measure correctly:

Bone Pressed Erect Length (BPEL)
Penis length is defined as the linear distance along the dorsal side of the erect penis extending from the mons veneris to the tip of the glans. In non-medical terms, the penis length is measured in a straight line on the top side of the erect penis, from the start of your pubic bone to the tip of your penis. Penis circumference is defined as the linear distance around the widest, thickest, part of the erect penis.

1. Stimulate yourself into the erectile state.
2. Place your ruler at the pubic bone, at the base of your erect penis and measure to the tip of your glans.
3. Read the nearest quarter-inch measurement at the tip of your penis. (In the example shown, the measurement would be 4 and 3/4 (4.75) inches.)

Bone Pressed Flaccid Stretch (BPFS)
1. Make sure you are in a completely flaccid state.
2. Place your ruler at the pubic bone on the side of the penis
3. Stretch penis straight out
3. Read the nearest quarter-inch measurement at the tip of your penis

Non-Bone Pressed Erect Length (NBPEL or NBP)
1. Stimulate yourself into the erectile state.
2. Place your ruler at the skin on the belly, at the base of your erect penis and measure to the tip of your glans without pushing ruler.
3. Read the nearest quarter-inch measurement at the tip of your penis.

Flaccid Length (FL)
1. Make sure you are in a completely flaccid state.
2. Place your ruler at the skin on the belly, at the base of your flaccid penis and measure to the tip of your glans without pushing ruler.
3. Read the nearest quarter-inch measurement at the tip of your penis.

Penis Erect Circumference (or Erect Girth (EG))
Penis length is not the only factor in determining penis size. The width, girth, or fatness, of a penis is also an important aspect when considering how you compare. Most people have a penis that is either longer and thinner, or shorter and fatter. To compare how the girth of your penis compares to the population, use the instructions below to determine your penile circumference (distance around the widest part of your penis).

1. Stimulate yourself into the erectile state.
2. Place the fabric ruler or string end at the widest part of your penis and wrap it carefully around one time. Mark the spot where the string first touches itself.
3. If using string, take the marked string and lay it against the ruler. Read to the nearest quarter-inch measurement.

Penis Flaccid Circumference (or Flacid Girth)
1. Make sure you are in a completely flaccid state.

Hey. Do you add the extra space at the beginning of the ruler back into your measurement? Because I do, why should I be robbed of 16th's of an inch?lol Every little bit counts.

bone pressed? can somebody try to use other words for it?

is the pubic bone the place next to the inside of one's legs, which is also next to the penis?

if i start measuring from the top(bellyside) of my penis i have 0.8 inches less than when i start measuring from the side...what method would you think most people use when they say "my penis is xx inches/cm long" ?
i hope they put the ruler next to the inside of the legs...otherwise i could cry, as i think my penis is short enough..
somebody please answer

You measure along the top of the penis, nowhere else. That's the way doctors do it and in all honesty you are cheating yourself if you do otherwise. I've said this before and I'll say it again. I'm over a foot long if I measure from my asshole to a little bit beyond the tip.

well, über.:
there is a reason why i did not say "the spot next to my asshole"; i remember, you commented on that somewhere... (i got strong legs..and "some" muscle there...so the inside of my legs goes a bit further then the beginning of my groin area).....let me try to describe it the way even non-american people can understand it...: when i move my hand downwards starting from the middle of my belly, and then reach the beginning of my penis and then again move my hand to the right (or left) to finally move it downwards again next to the (inside) leg in such way that one cannot say the hand is under the penis but parallel to it. Or in other words : put a ruler next to the penis and try to find the middle of it ( =- <-- like that; = is the penis and - is the ruler..)and finally lead the ruler to the place where it hits a bone or whatever that hard thing is called.
By the way...instead of commenting on something i did not say (measuring from the asshole..)you could have tried to answer the first question which was
"bone pressed? can somebody try to use other words for it?"
Because i understood it that way that both possibilities are common (more or less).... wow if i measured beginning next to my a.hole there would be MUCH more difference than 0.8 inches

I did answer your question manilla. You measure from along the top of the penis, NOT the side and I have never heard any other name for it besides "bone pressed."

And when you say, 'bone-pressed', that does mean the ruler is pressed right up against the pubic bone, pressing in on the skin in between, n'est pas?

O.K. Here is a tip that I've posted several times in different threads.
Go to a hobby shop, a hardware store, anywhere where you can purchase a round, 3/8" dowel. Mine is 30" long. Press the end of the round dowel into the hollow just at the top of your shaft, against the pubic bone. When you are fully erected, take a fine tipped felt marking pen and mark at the very tip of your penis on the dowel. Very carefully draw the line all around the dowel. Measure from the end you pressed into the pubic bone to the mark and this will give you a true and accurate Bone Pressed measurement. The reason I kept the 30" length is because it is easy to work with, easy to keep track of (I just stand mine up in the corner by the toilet)
and this will give you a permenant record of your gains. When I first started PE. I used this way of measuring and have marks in 1/4" increments from 4 3/4" up to and including 8 3/4". This was my last mark. I am not hitting that mark now, but I did at one time. I call this "Tool" my 'story pole', as this is a way to refer back to your progress. I look at this 'stick' and am amazed at how far I've come. Try this. This is almost like keeping a journal. JP

hi i mesure from the side of my penis my penis curves up and it is very hard to mesure from the top i stick the ruler right beside of my penis press to the bone then i straitin it out as much as i can to get a good mesurement, i never add the extra 16th to my size though i figure that as long as the mesurment is the same each time i will know when it grows,, my girlfriend does like the curve upward i would like to get it a bit straiter though,,,Airman

Have to ask -
You said, "I am not hitting that mark now, but I did at one time."
Are gains impermanent then, having to be maintained?
Once you achieve your goal, do you continue to excercise less frequently to maintain it? I know that we can lose muscle mass, it doesn't seem logical to my mind that the tissue would disappear.
Also - how long did it take you to make your gains, if you don't mind my asking? I've been floating around for a while, learning, but it's about time I got started.

how does everybody measure there BPEL.. standing up straight,tilting back alittle or sitting down?.i have noticed when i stand up straight as i can my penis pulls in more then when i tilt back or measure sitting down.. so which is right?

Yes, but that picture is wrong in the respect that the ruler is at the side. The ruler should be running along the middle of the penis.

if you read their description, they say youre supposed to measure from the side.

Then they are wrong. Doctors don't do it that way and it's much harder to measure properly that way as it is. You should never have to move your eyes perpenticularly from a point toward the ruler to get your measurement. That just introduces an unnecessary element of error.

I currently have neither a ruler nor a string so I went to Incompetech.com and printed out some graph paper for use as a ruler.

Now, I know that paper ain't exactly the sturdiest material in the world and that it's probably bending a lot and whatnot, but my measurements vary wildly depending on the time of day (figuratively speaking). For all length measurements, I've been putting the ruler on top of my penis and having the ruler start at the base, presumably the bone spoke of in the term "bone-pressed", but even so, my measurements can vary up to half an inch both ways. For string, I have been using headphones, but I cannot mark them so my measurements for girth haven't been very precise either, especially considering that I use the same bent up "ruler" mentioned above.

While it is certainly preferable that I take some accurate measurements, I fear that I won't be able to do that properly until I get, you know, a ruler, which might not be awhile. So, to that effect, I was wondering if I could simply take a picture, and if so, what would I have to do to ensure that I could derive my measurements from that picture?

I'm not particularly interested in recording progress: I know I ain't going to be seeing only of that for long time, but I do want to eventually know how much ground I've covered, you know, later.

EricBlair, you might want to get a ruler first thing! Otherwise your wasting your time. If you can't establish a good base line of measurements/stats, you won't know what "ground" you started with!!

When I started, I made the mistake of not measuring and regret it. Can't really tell my true gains. Oh yes, there are gains!
