| Pump...danger? Hi guys
I've been using a relatively cheap Handsomeup for years but recently invested in a Kaplan pump with guage. I've also started taking PE more seriously and now have a routine that combines pumping with stretching, jelqing, kegels and I have just got into weight hanging
I've read lots of stuff in this excellent forum, and others (not so good) in respect of pumping, and the general advice seems to be approx 10 mins at 5hg. I have to say that I have been pumping at 10hg without any pain, discoluration, doughnut rings or apparent excessive build up of fluid. I guess that is attributable to the fact that I have been pumping for so long.
Now I don't want to cause any damage to myself and I am very happy with the progress I'm making so far. I can understand why pumpers should be careful but I am confused as to why us pumpers should not go to excess but when you compare with some of the weights that guys seem to be able to hang with, doesn't that do more damage than a little more pressure in a pump? Or am I just jealous because I can't see anyway I will be able to hang with a 10lb weight? |

| Good point rp. I can pump up to about 8 hg without pain or discomfort. Some would argue that that is too much pressure and is in fact dangerous. I believe Dogg pumps at about 10hg, but he's also been pumping for a while. I just got back into pumping again myself so will see what results I get by the end of summer.
I think the danger between pumping versus hanging is that with hanging, your using a flaccid penis. With pumping, you're pumping while fully engorged. That would be the only difference I could see. |

| Thanks 10, would this suggest pump for girth, hang for length? |

| To give you an idea of what environment your penis is under while in the tube, think about this.
29.92 inHg = 1 atmosphere Quote: | The boiling point corresponds to the temperature at which the vapor pressure of the substance equals the ambient pressure. Thus the boiling point is dependent on the pressure. Usually, boiling points are published with respect to standard pressure (101325 pascals or 1 atm). At higher elevations, where the atmospheric pressure is much lower, the boiling point is also lower. The boiling point increases with increased ambient pressure up to the critical point, where the gas and liquid properties become identical. The boiling point cannot be increased beyond the critical point. Likewise, the boiling point decreases with decreasing ambient pressure until the triple point is reached. The boiling point cannot be reduced below the triple point. |
What I'm trying to get at here is that the higher the vacuum you pump to, the more your bodily fluids 'simmer' which probably accounts for some of the puffed up feeling. Now I don't know of anybody who has ever tried to pump to 30 inHg (which would actually cause blood to boil) but this is one thing to think about before going to those high (actually low) pressures.

| Thanks Uber; no way will I be getting my blood to boil, but is it not quite healthy for your body fluids to be a little warm? I guess I'm just saying pump and be comfortable, we all have different reactions, just make sure you are safe - which is why I was concerned about the level of weights some people hang by comparison to the well documented problems of over pumping. - I'm impressed by your knowledge of how this all works - thanks! |

| I must be wrong, but i thought blood cells start to die around 107 degrees Fahrenheit. Is that just brain cells or what? |

| Don't confuse the concept of a liquid boiling with it being hot. You can get a glass of water to boil at room temperature if you put it in a chamber and lower the pressure enough. Boiling just means that the ambient air pressure and the liquid's vapor pressure are the same.
