Have to ask -
You said, "I am not hitting that mark now, but I did at one time."
Are gains impermanent then, having to be maintained?
Once you achieve your goal, do you continue to excercise less frequently to maintain it? I know that we can lose muscle mass, it doesn't seem logical to my mind that the tissue would disappear.
Also - how long did it take you to make your gains, if you don't mind my asking? I've been floating around for a while, learning, but it's about time I got started.
