| PM counter-weight Hello all,
I've made a small modification to my use of the PM, and I want to begin by saying it is by no means meant to put more stretch on the penis than the PM would alone. I'll start by explaining why I did it.
Since I've gotten the PM, I've noticed that I can't figure out how much length I should have on the rods and how far out those rods should be adjusted (by screwing). I figured this would be fairly constant and gradually increase as my length did, but I'd set the rods, insert them into the attachment, and five minutes later I'd check and the resistance would be down to nothing - I could see all the notches on the resistance indicator. So I'd screw them out a little more. Then there'd be no resistance, so more screwing. This continued until my rod length had increased almost 2 cm and I still wasn't getting a stretch. Usually the device was now uncomfortable, but the stretch was on my scrotal skin, not the penis.
First I tried putting a little lubricant on the bottom of the PM base which rubs against the skin, and that helped for the soreness. But I still had no stretch. Finally it dawned on me what was going on. Even though I cleaned the PM, the base (the ring) was not staying put - if I hung the penis downward the springs were just pushing the bottom of the base into the bottom of my shaft, leaving no pressure on the penis. If I had the penis pointed upward in the pm, I was losing circulation because now the top of the base was being pressed into the top of my shaft and restricting blood through the main vein. The more I extended the rods, the more the base was pushing into the top or bottom of my shaft, and not against the body to actually stretch. So here's my answer.
I tied a thin string in a loop, and ran the loop through the base of the PM. From this I hung a small object, tied in an old sock, which weighs about one pound. (about 450 grams) Once I did that, I was able to keep the tension at a little less than half on the PM guage, which is all I wanted in the first place. This also makes sense, because according to the PM manual, the middle notch on the tension guage is 690 grams, and the one prior is 460 - so I'm right about at the tension that I'd have if I was just hanging my counter-weight. When I want to use the PM pointed up, I tie a longer loop around the top of the base and hang the same weight over one shoulder. You get a little less tension because of the string pulling on your shoulder, but it's almost as good.
Should you try this? If you don't have any problem with your PM, no, there's no need. I don't know if I get this difficulty because of my particular shape in the pubic region/pad, or what, I just know I get it. Maybe I'm the only one, but I suspect not, and I just read a post where a maxxtender user was seeming to have a longer setting than he should have for his length, so this might be happening to him. I know some other ADS' use the same basic design, so those similar to the PM might benefit from this idea as well.
Now, the maximum tension the PM says it should have is 1150 grams, which is just under 2.5 pounds. Therefore, if you try this, there is no reason you should have any more weight than that as a counter weight. If you do you'll be putting more tension on the penis than the PM was meant to hold, and you are likely to break it and injure yourself in the process. Also, you should be weary of even that maximum amount, because in the process of moving around the weight will move and pull a little more or less on the penis. And just as with the PM alone, you don't want to be getting up or making any real fast bending motions.
Personally, I find this to finally give a comfortable tension, and as I mentioned it only gives me what the PM was meant to, not more. I no longer have problems with the skin of the scrotum being stretched uncomfortably, and although my support strap was slipping and the notches starting to tear when I was using the PM before and incorrectly, now that same strap is holding with no apparent difficulty. Once again, this is intended for PM users and possibly those of similar ADS devices only to ensure they get the intended stretch, nothing more. I know how frustrating this can be, and I hope some others of you out there benefit. For those curious, I find that a regular hanging weight is better for sitting down or a combination of sitting and standing/walking. For those on their feet for long periods, I also tried with a light tension strap from another ADS secured below my knee, and that is more inconspicuous and also very effective, but once you sit down you lose all the benefit.
