| Push Ups Havent seen a competitive topic in here yet, so how many can you do? (push ups) I am currently involved in a contest with a friend thats lasted almost a month so far and I'm in the lead with 140 non-stop. I actually went to look at the world record because I thought I was so good but it turned out to be 10,507 non-stop; Minoru Yoshida (JAP), Oct 1980  so theres a blow to the ego. Any tips for pushing me into the lead would be appreciated. |

The less you weigh the easier it is to do a whole bunch of push ups so dont feel bad that the record is over 10,000. That Japanese fucker probably weighed 80 pounds.

Me and a few of my gym mates done something similar but with sit ups and how long you could squat in the seated position against a wall.
After a few months of training we tested it out and got like 400 odd pressups, over 1000 situps and 40 odd minutes . And to be fair the skinnier guys beat the buff dudes.

| Hehe, one of my less sensitive female friends who works in a gym told me to drop the beer belly to win, you guys seem to agree with the getting lighter statement... Suppose its time I started doing somthing again anyway. |

| Well if a guy benches 200lbs for 4 reps and weigh 200lbs versus a guy who benches 200lbs for 4 reps and weighs 160lbs. The lighter guy is odds on favourite as his body strength is greater versus his body weight.

By the way man what kind of name is dzudi?

| I agree with happy because I do a lot of pushups, pullups and dips and I sometimes increase my workout, but then decrease it too. The bottom line (at least for me) is to just do them as often as you can. As long as you're not hurting from the day prior or so, I would say build up to a good number and then work from there. I can range from 20 to 100 (mainly because I'm always changing my workout up), but not sure that I could come anywhere near 10k! :)
I wonder how long that took? |

You just have to get in a postion where your almost like a damn triangle with your legs spread out real wide and your arm underneath you. It takes practice but it will help you do more regular pushups.

| Hey Dzudi dont pay attention to these crazy fuckers. They either cant read or understand what the hell your trying to do or dont know a damn pushup from a pullup. Also man adjust where you put your hands. Try doing some with your hands as close into your body as you can. Doing them in different angles will help build up your shoulders also. By the way man what did ya'll bet?

| "MASS Thing" If you are talking about muscle mass? If you want to obtain muscle mass you must lift HEAVY weight. Most likely a "pyramid" type of program, or 5 sets of 5 type. Either one is good for gaining mass on your frame.

| I won with 190, I basically focused on the shoulders getting stronger, did some sprinting on stairs to shave a few pounds off to lift, and dropped and did 5-10 whenever I had a minute so that my technique ended up flawless. |

His arms are that big because of Synthol not from steroids or working out. Synthol is basically sterile oil that bodybuilders use to enhance lagging bodyparts before a show. | Quick update for you guys, I've been doing 50 pushups every day and maxing out every few days and I'm now past 200 and seriously considering working up to 300. Seems like my idea that technique was very important paid off. |
