This is a short tutorial to teach you how to add an attachment to your posts. Each of these steps corresponds to a screenshot from my computer showing you what to do.
1. Toward the bottom of the screen you should see a blue bar that reads "Additional Options". At the far right of this bar is a little arrow in a gray box. Click the arrow to expand the box if it isn't already expanded.
2. You will see a button that says "Manage Attachments". Click it.
3. Another window will pop up. Click the "Browse" button to find your file on your computer. If the file you want to attach isn't on your computer and you saw it on a website, you will have to save it to your computer first. Valid file extensions are:
- bmp (a type of picture format)
- doc (i.e. a Word file)
- gif (another type of picture format)
- jpe (another type of picture format)
- jpeg (same as jpe)
- jpg (same as jpe)
- pdf (Adobe Acrobat reader file)
- png (another type of picture format)
- psd (Adobe Photoshop file)
- txt (text file, i.e. "Notepad")
- wmv (Windows Media Video, a type of video format)
- zip (the extension for a ZIP file, a type of data compression)
4. Select the file you want to attach. It must be 100 KB or less or you won't be able to attach it. If it is too big, you can try manipulating the image if it is a picture by reducing the size or resolution and saving it again. JPEG files are most efficient at storing data with a minimum amount of memory, but there can be some information loss and the image might become a little grainy. Bitmaps don't suffer this problem, but they take up an incredible amount of memory. Besides shrinking the image, you can try saving under a different format (i.e. saving a bitmap as a jpeg and posting the jpeg).
The recomended format for pictures is jpeg. I had to reduce the size of the picture I selected in this example before the Betterman website would accept it.
5. Click the "Upload" button. Repeat steps 3-5 to attach multiple files.
6. Click the button that says "Close this window" when you are done.
Finish typing your message and post as you normally would.
