Chung called his Captains to a meeting. His strategy to defeat the Knights from Earth had failed. Chung had a plan to rid himself of the Knights and he put it forth to his warriors.

His plan was very involved and the timing must be perfect or the conquest of the Kingdom of Nib and the defeat of King Robert and the Earthlings would fail.
This was a last desperate act by Chung and if it was successful would be utter and complete victory and the vast riches of planet would be his.

It was a very bright, double moonlit night. The stillness was eerie. The guards posted on the walls and in the turrets of the castle of King Robert could feel a sense of something...some dread, something about to happen. The moonlit hours went by slowly with everyone feeling the hairs on their arms and neck standing up.
Suddenly, there was a loud shout and several loud explosions. The final battle for control had begun.

The explosions rattled the training compound. The Knights threw their girls aside and lept from the bed. Sir Iguana flung open his door and saw that all of the Knights were looking at one another with just their heads sticking out. Sir Happy Stud said, "I think we better get our asses dressed man." And began to throw on his tunic and tights and grabbing his armor.
A runner came down the hall yelling for the Knights to hurry as the Kingdom was under attack.

The Knights met up in the conference room in verious stages of putting on their armor and asked the page, what was happening. He said, "The North wall has been breached by a powerful explosion and the courtyard is full of mounted men killing everyone in sight."

Sir JonPop said, "DO NOT PANIC. Do not run into the battle until we know what we are facing."
"Page, have our squires ready our mounts and get us somebody in here that can tell us what is going on." The page said, "Yes Sir Knight," and headed towards the stables yelling for the squires and trainees, as he left.

Young Prince Robert came running into the room, breathing hard he said, "Chung has used some sort of explsovie device to blast a gaping hole in the outer wall, he had a pre-made bridge to cross the moat and is now filling the courtyard and streets with his rogue Knights. There are no devices like that on Nib, so he must have had explosives smuggled in from an outside source. This is against Federation Law."
Sir Bret said, "Well a lot of good that does us now, can you give us a guess on the size of Chung's forces?" Prince Rob said, "I would guess just from a quick look as I was making my way here, that about 100 mounted and maybe another 200 soldiers are spilling into the Kingdom. They caught us at dinner and our soldiers aren't putting up much of a fight."

Big Al, the Captain of the trainees came into the room in full armor and said, "What do you want my men to do, Sir JonPop?" He answered, "Have the men completly dress in their armor if they aren't already and assemble in the training area with their weapons. Have them go in an orderly manner to the stables and retrieve their horses, above all, Captain Al, do not let anyone leave until I give the word." Captain Al said, "Yes, Sir Knight." And went to carry out his orders.
Sir JonPop turned to the now fully armored Knights and said, "We must have a plan. You know Chung has planned this carefully and with only the one exit out of the arena, will be waiting in ambush." Sir Uberschwanz said, "I and Sir Remek, have an Idea."

The horses charged through the opening at full gallop. Arrows rained from both sides penetrating the armor and riddling the horses many times with steel tipped arrows.
When the horses came to the line of rogue Knights they were met with lances and maces. There was a great shout as the Knights discovered that the suits of armor were empty and tied to the horses.

At the same time, the ranks of archers and soldiers lining the opening to the training arena were set upon by 4 of the knights from Earth and 15 trainees from the back on one side and the same amount from the back on the other. The soldiers and archers turned to meet this new threat and were being mowed down like stalks of wheat by a scythe.

The remainder of the trainees over 70 strong led by Sir JonPop charged through the opening and straight at the rogue Knights that were now in disarray.
The battle was viscous but short lived. The Knights that didn't turn tail and flee were killed and many of the soldiers threw down their weapons and surrendered.

The Knights had their squires and the stable hands, quietly remove sections of the compound wall behind the blacksmith shop and had set out on both sides of the compound to hit the enemy from the rear.

The Knights left a small portion of the trainees to tend to the prisoners and charged into the kingdom grounds.
They had several encounters with enemy knights and soldiers, but the armor of the Earth Knights in the lead could not be penetrated by arrows and they made short work of those on the ground. None of the enemy Knights wanted anything to do with one on one combat and quickly fled across the mote bridge or through the gaping hole in the North wall.

When the Knights arrived at the palace only a few men remained outside and they quickly surrendered.
Once inside the throne room, the Knights saw Chung sitting on King Roberts throne wearing the Kings crown and King Robert tied and laying at Chung's feet.
Chung had a dagger to the Kings throat and said, "If you make a move towards me, I WILL kill the King.

The Knights stopped in their tracks and waited to hear from Sir JonPop.
Sir JonPop, approached the throne saying, "You must surrender Chung, there is no army to save you now. Put down the dagger and release the King and your life will be spared."
Chung responded, "My life now has no value and I WILL kill King Robert if you don't lay down your arms."
Sir JonPop knew that Chung would do this so he turned to his Knights and said, Brother Knights, lay down your weapons."

Sir JonPop placed his broadsword on the marble floor, removed his dagger from it's sheath and turned to face Chung to see what might be salvaged from this act of disarming.
Chung was now standing with a maniacal look on his face and started to speak when suddenly a small hole appeared in his forehead. Chung without a sound, toppled over backward, crashed into King Robert's throne and lay in a twisted heap on the floor.

Captain Slanker had entered in time to hear Sir JonPop's orders, access the situation, draw his weapon and fire a laser beam into Chungs head, killing him instantly.

Captain Slanker walked to King Roberts, helped him to his feet and stood looking at the stunned Knights.
He said: "Chung violated the federation code and has been punished with death.
In his greed to seize the stores of Gallium here on the Planet Nib, he had contracted an outside source to provide him with forbidden materials to further his conquest.
We of the United Federation try to avoid situations such as this but now justice has been done."

"Sir Knights; The war is over."

Science officer Kingpole strode past the Knights in the process of gathering their weapons and said:
I am very sorry to inform you that in this last battle you have lost two of your Knights. Sir Uberschwanz was killed by a lance through the side during the charge to the castle and Sir Iguana felled by several arrows to the breast plate.
Sir Remek said, "How is this possible? The potion from Sir Merlin made it impossible for an arrow to pierce our armor." Kingpole answered, "Unbeknownst to Sir Iguana, the black smith was unable to satisfactorily repair the dent in the breast plate of Sir Iguana's armor and had made a new piece.
He didn't know that the breast plate had any magical significance and so did not inform anyone.

Captain Slanker said, "We are deeply sorrowed by the loss of your brother Knights. They will be returned along with you, to your planet Earth.

EPILOGUE

King Arthur and all those that had gathered to bid fair well to the knights as they set off on their journey to the planet Nib, were astounded to see it reappear in just seconds as they had just turned around to return to their homes.
The King surmised that there had been a change in plans or that something had gone wrong with the strange craft.
They could not know that with the capabilities of time travel, that the ship had allowed no Earth time to elapse on the return voyage.

The gathering at the Round Table was again somber. The bodies of Sir Uberschwanz and Sir Iguana were lying in state in the main hall for later viewing.
The Knights were questioned by King Arthur and the Knights that had not made the trip. They each told their stories and answered any questions that they had answers for.

Captain Slanker and all of the crew of the craft stood in the background listening to this adventure unfold.
Finally, when all had been said, everything recounted, Captain Slanker stepped forward and said, "King Arthur, please may I have a word?"
The King slapped his palm hard against the table's surface several times and said, "QUIET, we will now hear from Captain Slanker."

All attention turned to the Captain. He spoke from the heart saying, "Sir Knights, King Arthur and all of the Moderator Knights and people from the Kingdom of BetterMan and the PE Gym."

"The United Federation and all of us that are descendents of the people here on the planet Earth owe you a debt of gratitude that can only be partially repaid with wealth. Our true feelings are such, that mere words could do them no justice. That you have lost two of your own was an unplanned and unacceptable tragedy by us and by the grateful King Robert and all the people of the planet Nib.
We have deposited in both your Kingdom's treasury's enough gold bullion to ensure the stability and wealth of both your Kingdoms for many decades to come.
By directive, we are not allowed to linger here and must leave."

All of the crew and Captain Slanker snapped to attention and as one, saluted the Knights and their king, then turned and left the room.

The End.

Please don't invade the kingdom of GRX & the ultra-busty cheerleaders! We are currently in the process of building an impenetrable wall around the kingdom.

Friends always welcome for food, grog & fun. All invaders will be dealt with by our guard.

The next jousting tournement is going to be held at the Kingdom of GRX.
Please have your "guard" smash enough grapes to supply all of the Knights with fine wine.

Didn't they used to make this in the MidWest in the late 1920's?

No. They didn't have the person with the right 'equipment' such as your "guard" to reduce the dandelions to their molecular structure.

With the deaths of Sir Uberschwanz and Sir Iguana, the Knights of BetterMan felt out of sorts and no longer invincible.
Sir Sonic Celt decided he would leave the Knighthood and return to his home to spend more time with his family. Sir Marty and Sir Sikdogg echoed this and after a gala night of partying and sorrowful goodbye's, the three left their BetterMan brothers and retired from the round table.

This will start a new saga and era in the adventures of the Knights of BetterMan.

Want to hear more?

I take it Marty's life of contemplation is going well? Sir Sikdogg is no doubt on quest.

Don't have a clue, but thank you for asking.
I'll be doing something, fixing dinner, working outside chopping weeds, watering plants, and a story will kind of pop into my mind. I'll mull this over and kind of make mental notes. Then when I find the time, I'll sit down and write the first chapter and then the story just goes from there. I wrote things as a kid, but never finished up a story because I could never figure out an ending. Since I've become older, when I write a story, I ask myself, "How are you going to end this?" I will then fast forward the story in my mind and do an ending, usually with an Epilogue. Then I just fill in the middle.
It's wierd, but when I am writing a story like "Spammer War," It's like I'm an observer and I write what I see and hear. When I wrote "John and Jennifer's Hawaiian vacation," I was living the story as I wrote it. But where I get an inspiration? I loved the Knighthood era and Pirates. I think my next story is going to have both. Also, it's easier with built in characters like we have on our forums because, really, this is who I am writing the stories for. JP

I do the same thing. Accept I have to write down everything that pops into my head. I have at least five spiral notebooks filled with ideas about how I think things work. Some nights I'll wake up out of a deep sleep and have an epiphany, then I'll write down that thought.

I have the same problem that you used to have. Every story I ever wrote had a terrible ending. In high school, I was a horrible writer. Even today, some of the papers I write don't have a decent ending. My writing has improved quite a bit, but it's still a work in progress.

Some day I hope to write a book that consists of all my thoughts. Reading your story brought me one step closer to completing my goal.

I can't wait for your next story!!

Thank you,

Jayhawk

So far I've read parts 1 & 2.

I like how you emphasized the king's tiny penis. That was hilarious man!

You may want to start a Journal, it will make it easier for you later on.

JP has a way of helping other people. At least this is what I've found to be true.

If your planning on writing an autobiography someday. You should do a daily journal of your life. Write down every day, of your thoughts daily.

Thanks for the advice Betterman.

I just finished all of the Betterman stories. Superb writing JP!!

Do you have a college education? Judging by your grammar, it looks like you have one.

Thank you Jaybud. Glad you enjoyed the stories.

Yeah, couple of years at San Diego State. But...The BetterMan forum and all the writing involved has done more to improve my grammer, spelling and writing skills than all of my formal education. I still make an ocassional boo boo, but that's where the "Edit" feature comes in.
