Dislocated Shoulder Ouch!!

Welp guys....I was sparring in the ring yesterday and through a bad punch, which lead me to dislocating my shoulder. It was the worst pain I ever felt in my life. I waited for 45 mins for the ambulance to come while my left arm was dangling. No one at the gym knew how to pop it back in. So they finally came and took me to the nearest hospital. I had a cute doctor who spent 20 mins dealing with me screaming like I was giving birth while she was putting my shoulder back in place....then when she finally got it in.....it fell back out again!!! which tripled the pain.....I had to take a breather...I thought I was going to pass out...she gave me a shot of something to help losen my muscles...(she said I had alot of muscle mass, which made the process a little more difficult). and she popped it back in. I barely got any sleep yesterday.......hopefully I can sleep today....its not a bad pain....but its constant and annoying...and I'm just upset that I can not work out....I don't know how long it will take for me to heal.....does anyone know?

Sorry to hear about this, youngfacehov. Typically it is about 8-9 weeks before you can get pain free movement. Just take it easy. This is a great time for you to catch up on your reading. Look at this as a forced PE break. When you come back to PE, hopefuly you'll see some newbie gains again. Good luck. Go and read my adventure stories. "The spammer war."

Thanks. Well I am going to do light rehabilitating exercises. I just bought a deep tissue massager to help stimulate blood flow and strengthen back the losend shoulder muscles. I bought some Mega Men Joint vitamins to help with a speedy recovery. I wanted to be in shape for the summer, but it looks like my summer's over

You can still stretch and Jelq, one handed. Or does any movement like that hurt?

I can rotate my arm 180, but once it goes back it hurts. I can use my arm. I just cant do any heavy lifting! There's a minor constant pain, but I'm dealing with it. this electric pulse massager is really helpful. That plus I am young is what I'm betting on for a fast recovery. There was no way that I was going to stop PEing! lol just cant go to the gym for a while.

Ouch indeed!

Stick to the rehab exercises and ease back into any physical activity slowly, there's no rush.

I'm recovering from a shoulder injury at the moment.

Are you seeing a physiotherapist? Any ultrasound treatment?

I dislocated my shoulder 2 winters ago from a snowboarding accident.
My arm was in a sling for about 6-8 weeks. After week 6 I began my rehab to regain the lost range of motion(ROM) for another 6 weeks.
The rehab is painful, because you lose A LOT of your ROM while your shoulder heals, and need someone to help you regain it by forceful stretching.
Imagine you just arriving at the gym coming in from the cold, and going into a deep stretch.
Go see a physiotherapist after 4-6 weeks in the sling. Don't start your rehab too late or you may heal up too tight, and never regain your full ROM again.
I am forced to do front squats as opposed to back, since my shoulder cannot rotate that far back now =/
I started going to the gym 2 weeks in the sling, and worked my opposing side and legs. I was careful to choose exercises that did not agitate my injured arm during reps.

Good luck
