| Its been a while since i've posted anything on my training, so i thought i'd give an update. At the beginning of the summer i was 170 at 6'2" with approx 5% body fat, but at the end of the summer i lost 15 lbs in a week and a half from h1n1 and working few to many 10 hour days. i gained 5 lbs back immediately from eating. I saw this loss of muscle as an opportunity to experiment with different training. I have been training mostly body weight exercises since and have been recently having some success. I am currently 165 and much stronger than i was before (upper body anyway). I have been training planche and handstands. I just recently hit a new PR in handstand pushups (6), and have gained much core strength. My jumping hasnt suffered from the 5 or so pounds i've lost in leg muscle because of all the added core strength. I will start my leg training very soon with calf raises(each leg +50lbs) vertical jump squats (15lbs db's). i been just training body weight exercises but ive been adding weight, and it seems to be working nicely.

| Very interesting Doner. As I remember you are into basketball?
anyway you seem to have built avery functional body. Funny enough when I was young, I weghed 165lb at 6'1" with alot of functional strength.
It has allways annoyed me, that this style of body is not well appreciated in our society.
Of course returning to a previous body weight, is esy compared to gaining new bodyweight. If you find you wish to gain over 170lb we are here for you. |

| Have been doing general conditioning, swiming ,surfski and classes(pump, balance etc) and limited weights for some time. My work has been somewhat physical and this has tired me. Have been waiting for the desire to get into weights to return, but it hasn't really. So will start anyway.
I have decided that if I am going to get old I will be dragged there kicking and screaming.

| If you wait for the desire to go back to the weights it will never come.Somehow you just have to force yourself but once you've gone back you'll remember how good it is! I guess it's kind of like going back to sex after a long dry spell.

| Been battling a back problem, so the weights have been difficult. Done some classes and swiming. The swiming at least is going ok, the doc said being physical active has helped my back.
Funny enough he discovered that I need the large cuff for blood pressure readings. |

| Am back on track with weight training. It will be interesting to see how I go, as strength improvement past previous levels in trained individuals is rare past 50y. |

Just gotta get some time to sit down and write. But I would disagree on the comment on post-50 strength gains. |

| Rember UA I did say trained individuals past previous best.
People are allways saying this is common and when I ask for examples telling me of untrained individuals who started training. Or saying ,oh look at John he is benching 400lb plus at past 50y. Of course John is a former heavyweight powerlifter and the 400lb bench is a 20% loss of strength relative to pb. Neither of these is at all what I am talking about. |

| Ok, that clears it up a bit more. I have just not had much time to sit down and talk to you. Sorry. My first question would be, why would past previous bests be needed at 50+ years old? Even for competition it wouldn't be needed really. Could it be done? Maybe, but the recovery modes and time may be difficult to overcome. Hope to talk to you more soon. |
