Very true. It also seems to matter which social groups the child is involved in. If the social group is negative on education. The child will want to be as their peers and vice versa. The parents role is vital, but can only be useful to a certain extent. The child also needs to be willing. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. The child should also be held accountable for their actions.
I'm happy to see how my own children have taken the initiative to learn. Since they were 5. I would instruct them how important Math and Science will be in the future. Now they are in high school. One child wants to be an aeronautical engineer. My middle wants to go into software design. My youngest wants to be either a vet or a designer.
