| Medications, effects and alternatives Thought members might swap info on medecations and possibly lifestyle changes to avoid them.
Have just started on Perindopril for blood pressure; not something I wanted to do. Doc's are not helpfull re avoiding drugs. On the other hand shysters and weirdos are out there in droves, giving bad or even dangerous advice. |

| Well, depends on what you need. Do you need a natural remedy for lowering blood pressure?

| Of course, it is not just what I need, but what would be helpfull to the membership in general. My experience with natural methods is that they work, but only to a limited extent. So ,I have delayed the point, at which I had to use drugs, for blood fats and blood pressure. But the time still came. I used only mainstream methods.
Of course this is the net, so miracle cures abound. If you have something that works and isn't too extream or weird, lets hear it. For instance I don't want to drink my own urine or eat a kg of cabbage a day. |

to lower blood fats and triglicerides: Chromium picolinate 400-1000mcg per day.
Theanine is being tested to lower blood pressure. Thanine is the primary amino acid in green tea. Green tea has not worked for me in lowering blood pressure but it might work for you.
Also high blood pressure is not a disease but a symptym of something out of balance in the body. Most cases of high blood pressure are caused by a lack of magnesium. So you may want to up your mag to 600mg per day. Also calcium plays a role in lowering blood pressure 1200mg to start. (note to much calcium can rasie your blood pressure) Calcium is kepth in check with magnesium though. Manesium is a calcium chanle blocker.
potasium no need to supplement with potasium this must come from foods try to get four grams per day. Foods high in potasium are Bananas, Raisins, grapes, oranges potatoes. Ginkgo biloba is a vasal dialator as well as an anti aggregate (Keeps platelets from sticking) this an help lower cholesterol and cut back on excess cortisol. Also gives you real hard fat boners.
Hawthorne is a natural ACE inhibitor and can help lower blood pressure.
Cayenne Pepper regulates blood pressure, eat your hot spicy foods.
Alcohol and cigeretes raise blood pressure. Caffeine in excess of 300mg per day can raise blood pressure. NSAIDS, Ibuprofin and Naproxium can raise blood pressure.

This is really good to know because I've always been a believer in not having to take a million pills a day to keep myself going. I've been borderline hypertension for years now and have tried to regulate with natural things like diet and exercise. My doctor allowed me one cup of coffee per day due to my size but that was it. I'm 6'2'' and about 215. After my morning cup, I try REALLY hard to avoid that iced coffee in the afternoons I love so much. Somedays I fail and other days I succeed. I'm also trying to limit my alcohol consumption to every other day.

| Sad news for pegasus and 10.....You have to stop booze all together, perhaps.
Also switch over from table salt to sea salt. From waht i read from Dr. Barton is that sea salt does not raise blood pressure whereas table salt does. I down loaded his book how to lower blood pressure naturally i will post his website.

I actually do use sea salt versus table salt. Now, from what I understand, I heard that alcohol consumption in MODERATION was actually good for you. I typically have a glass of red wine after work and lately on the weekends, I've been engaging in some liquid pleasure with my two friends Jack Daniels and Coke. Just one, not two or three. Does fish oil do anything to regulate or lower blood pressure??

About a 1/4 of a cup s all you can have though.
Fish oil is on the list of sups to take to imrove heart health. Two cans of tuna in oil per week can reduce the risk of a heart attack by 50%.

Have been buying Paneer cheese, but it is tasteless.
Take fish oil it is supposed to help triglicerides(blood fats). Can't say it has been much help there, but it seems to help my joints. |

I take 3 fish oil pills per day. So I could continue taking those in lieu of the tuna in oil and be ok? The tuna in oil makes me gag...........can't stand it.

| I've taken fish oil in the past and didn't have any issues, though I workout regularly and eat fairly well. |

| Fish oil is a great source of omega 3 fatty acids which help heart health, as mentioned above. If you do find yourself on quite a few pills you should balance them off with a good multi vitamin, vitamin C and your B complex (for stress)
I am on pills for treatment of bi-polar disorder, high blood pressure and stomach related issues. I need to supplement the vitamins to counter the negative effects of the drugs.
A common side effect to this kind of medication is ED so I need to be vigilant with my exercise. It has turned out to be a bit of a struggle to keep my wife satisfied.
