Penile bacteria and circumcision

Circumcision, which substantially lowers HIV risk in men, also dramatically changes the bacterial communities of the penis, according to a new study in the journal PLoS ONE. The findings could lead to new non-surgical HIV preventative strategies for the estimated 70 percent of men worldwide who, because of religious, cultural or financial barriers, are not likely to become circumcised.

I'm pretty sure that circumcision does not substantially lower the risk for HIV.

If someone is telling you that it does... they are either ignorant of the facts or they are being intentionally misleading. The scientific evidence points to Circumcision actually increasing the risk for HIV/Aids and other infections.

Well, I once snapped my "penis string" during intercourse. If that happened with a HIV infected girl, I guess that would raise the risk pretty much.

would it be recommended to get circumsized as an adult? I am 25 and want to get circumsized. Do I just go to a Urologist to inquire about it? Also I have been stretching and jelqing for the passed 2-3 weeks and it feels and looks like my foreskin is also strectching and gettin longer (it bunches up more now). Should this be happening? I hope not. Any info would be greatly appreciated

That's exactly what I asked my urologist when I got my glans string cut off (at the age of 22). He strongly advised me NOT to; It is a totally unnecessary procedure, and he insured me I was to miss it, as the foreskin contains a lot of sensitive nerve endings that gets stimulated during sexy time.

So you got circumsized at 22? When you say "the glands string" are you talking about the frenelum which is the attachment under the glands to the shaft?

I want to get circumsized for both heath (my girlfriend will sometimes get yeast infections after a few sex sessions without a condom) and cosmetic reasons (it just lloks ugly and my self-esteem/confidence is low). How much was the procedure and will any urologist do it or a specialist? I found "The Circumcision Center" in Atlanta where the doctor specializes in adult circumcisions but charges about $2500 per procedure. I live in TX so it would be spend about $3500 in total to go over and back to get the procedure. If I can do it local with a great urologist then i'll do it here but I don't know what procedure they would use and their success rates and so forth.

For goodness sake DO NOT GET CIRCUMCISED! It is the most cruel and primitive operation that really does nothing for health or infection prevention once you are clean. Circumcision was practiced in the desert regions because sand used to get under the foreskin and the continual rubbing and irritation produce penile cancer. Brother you will lose a lot of sensitivity if you get circumcised and your glans will become dry and rough and less sensitive. I think we should all preach AGAINST this barbaric operation that is mutilating our boys, especially in America!

To late for me. Grandmother inforced the issue being cathlic and all. Her rational is that an un circumcised penis does not grow as big as a circumcised penis.
